What is Balm of Gilead?:

Balm of Gilead comes from the early spring buds of several poplar and cottonwood trees - the Balsam Poplar, the Black Cottonwood, and the Narrowleaf Balsam Poplar. It has been popularized because of its description in the Talmud and Bible. Arabic tradition explains that the Queen of Sheba brought the balsam from Yemen as a gift to King Solomon who planted it in the gardens of Jericho. 

Herbalist use Balm of Gilead for many external medicinal purposes as it is an astrignent, contains anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, and assists with detoxification.

  • Burn to attract the spirits you are petitioning.
  • Use in candle magic by placing buds around the base of the candle during love, protection, or manifestation workings. 
  •  Add to your mojo bag for protection, strength and/or wisdom.
  • Sprinkle in front of your house for protection.
  • Place in an offering bowl and leave on your altar.
